A global human movement

A light before crisis.

A movement helping people notice each other earlier, in every school, university, workplace, family, team and online community in the world.

The mission

We are building a global prevention movement around youth mental health, digital distress signals, and early human support, so fewer people spiral alone. so fewer people spiral alone.

Who can become a Lighthouse

Anyone.

A student, a parent, a friend, a teacher, a coach, a classroom, a dorm, a sports team, a university, a workplace, a family, a Discord server, a neighborhood, a city, a country.

A Lighthouse is not a credential. It is a commitment to notice the people around you.

The reality

Distress is communicated digitally long before it is spoken aloud.

Most support systems activate after crisis, after self-harm, after hospitalization, after a breakdown. But the signals are almost always there earlier, in the texture of someone's days.

  • 01Late-night spirals
  • 02Hopeless reposts
  • 03Self-destructive humor
  • 04Emotional withdrawal
  • 05Doomscrolling loops
  • 06Sleep and routine changes
  • 07Algorithmic reinforcement
  • 08Sudden behavioral shifts

Current systems often ignore these signals, amplify them through engagement algorithms, or react only once it is already too late.

The symbol

A lighthouse does not control the ship.It helps the ship find safety.

A lighthouse
  • Guides.
  • Warns.
  • Illuminates danger.
  • Helps people find safety.
A lighthouse does not
  • Control ships.
  • Judge ships.
  • Force a direction.
  • Replace the captain.
The idea

A Lighthouse is not a building.

It is a person, a friend group, a school, a university, a sports team, a workplace, or an online community, committed to noticing earlier, checking in, and guiding people toward help before crisis.

Where it lives

Anywhere people quietly agree to look out for each other.

The movement

One Lighthouse becomes another. Then another. Then another.

A Lighthouse is contagious by design. The simple act of noticing one person teaches the people around you how to notice the next.

How it begins

What happens when someone creates a Lighthouse.

  1. 01

    You decide to notice.

You stop scrolling past the people around you and choose to see them.

  2. 02

    You learn five small acts.

The L.I.G.H.T. Method, quiet, repeatable, human. Built for anyone.

  3. 03

    You check in on someone.

One message. One conversation. The earliest possible support.

  4. 04

    Someone reaches back.

And the people watching learn that they can do this too.

The method

Five small acts. Anyone can learn them.

The L.I.G.H.T. Method is the foundation's shared language for noticing and reaching out, written for anyone, anywhere.

  1. L

    Look for changes

Isolation, hopelessness, withdrawal, dark reposts, sleep changes, sudden shifts.

  2. I

    Initiate contact

Reach out simply. “Hey, I’ve noticed you seem off lately. Just checking in.”

  3. G

    Give space to talk

Listen without judging, minimizing, or trying to instantly fix everything.

  4. H

    Help connect

Guide them toward friends, family, counselors, mentors, or trusted adults.

  5. T

    Take risk seriously

If someone is in immediate danger, do not ignore it. Contact crisis support.

Built for trust

Five non-negotiable principles.

The Lighthouse Foundation is not AI therapy. Not surveillance. Not predictive policing. Not a replacement for psychologists. These principles are how we promise that, in writing.

  1. 01

    Human first

Technology exists to reconnect people to humans, not to replace them.

  2. 02

    Consent-based

No hidden monitoring. No secret scraping. Everything transparent, voluntary, user-controlled.

  3. 03

    Support, not diagnosis

We do not diagnose depression, mental illness, or suicide risk. We encourage awareness and support.

  4. 04

    Privacy-centered

Users own their data. No advertising model. No engagement optimization.

  5. 05

    Ethical by design

Built alongside psychologists, ethicists, researchers, universities, and youth organizations.

The horizon

A world where fewer people suffer silently, because someone, somewhere, noticed in time.
